01 / From source to speaker

The path of sound, from app to speaker.

Volura sits between your apps and your Mac’s audio output. Eight stages, each with one job, every one of them visible and under your control. No Swift on the audio thread, no cloud, no waiting.

  1. Mac apps

Music, video, calls and games come in just as they are.

    1. Bass harmonics

Turns sub-bass a small speaker cannot play into harmonics your ear reads as bass.

    2. Auto level

Measures loudness the broadcast way and evens out apps, videos and calls.

    3. Boost

Up to +12 dB in 0.5 dB steps, for passages that are too quiet.

    4. Loudness

Lifts quiet passages by up to 9 dB without touching the loud ones.

    5. Equalizer

31 bands and a bass cut to shape the curve around the way you listen.

    6. Headphone profile

A measured correction for your exact model, from the AutoEq project.

    7. Drive

Shapes peaks with an oversampled soft clipper: denser and louder, no aliasing.

    8. Limiter

A look-ahead ceiling that keeps added gain from ever turning into clipping.

  2. Output

Speakers or headphones, with a one-click comparison between original and processed sound.

02 / Built for the speakers you actually have

Four things a volume slider will never do.

Every stage is written from scratch for Volura and measured before it ships. Together they make a MacBook sound bigger than its size and your headphones sound the way they were meant to.

03 / Find your signature sound

Thirty-one bands. Twenty-two starting points.

Presets for movies, games, calls, night listening, music genres and the speakers in your MacBook. Each one sets the curve, bass cut, Loudness, Drive and bass harmonics. Tweak anything, save your own, share it as a file.

Solid bass and open highs that let vocals shine through.

Click and drag across bars to sculpt your sound curve

04 / Intelligent Automation

Sound that adapts to your apps and your clock.

No manual switching. Volura tracks which app is in front and what time it is, retuning curves, dynamics, speech clarity and limiter ceilings in milliseconds.

Smart Night Mode

Sleep & Schedule Aware

Never dive for the volume keys during late-night movies again.

Explosions & Loud Audio
−8.5 dB Tamed
Quiet Dialogue & Whispers
+7.5 dB Lifted

Late-night listening: sudden loud peaks (explosions, gunshots, intro stings) are smoothly capped, while quiet whispered dialogue is gently brought up by +8 dB. Family and neighbors sleep peacefully.

Auto-syncs with macOS Focus / Sleep schedule or your custom timetable (e.g. 22:00 – 07:00).

Your audio belongs to you

Audio comes in, is processed in memory and goes out. Nothing is recorded, stored or sent.

macOS calls this access “System Audio Recording”, which is why it asks for permission the first time. Despite the name, Volura does not create audio files or connect to servers to process sound. The only connections are a daily update check and, for purchased keys, a license confirmation with the store every 7 days.

A few things worth knowing

Good to know before you press play

Which apps does it work with?

It works with system-wide audio: music, videos, calls and games. Protected content may restrict capture. Try it for 14 days with the apps and devices you use before you buy.

Do I just turn up the volume?

Start with Boost, add Drive for density and Auto level so every app sits at the same volume. Results depend on the audio and your speakers or headphones: Volura does not increase your hardware’s physical power. Start at a comfortable level.

Will it distort?

A look-ahead limiter holds every peak below the ceiling you choose, and Drive is oversampled so its harmonics never alias. Push Drive to the top and you will hear it working, by design; leave it low and the sound stays clean.

Does it work with headphones?

Yes. Choose your model among 130 built-in profiles from the AutoEq project and Volura flattens its response; any other headphone can be imported from an AutoEq file. Volura processes the audio, so wired, USB and Bluetooth headphones all work.

Why does macOS ask for recording permission?

The “System Audio Recording” permission lets Volura receive sound from apps for processing. Volura does not record files; the permission name comes from macOS.

How is it sold?

A free 14-day trial with every feature, no card required. Then US$ 29 a year, or US$ 99 once for a lifetime license. Each key works on up to two Macs. Gumroad handles payment and tax, emails your key and refunds any purchase within 14 days.

How do I install it?

Download the installer, open it and drag Volura to Applications. It is signed and notarized by Apple, and it tells you when a new version is out. Requires macOS 14.2 or later, on Apple silicon or Intel.

How do I activate my license?

Open Volura, go to Settings › License, paste the key from your Gumroad receipt and click Activate. Changing Macs? Reply to your receipt and we free the seat for the new one.
